Knuckleduster Music Inc.
Created by Georges Couling
Georges Couling is a producer, composer, keyboardist, and educator based in Vancouver, British Columbia. When he's not in the studio, you'll find him working on his vintage VW or playing goal in a beer league somewhere across Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Music Background
Georges holds a Bachelor of Applied Music from Vancouver Community College and a Master of Education from Simon Fraser University. He studied jazz piano with some of Canada's leading pianists — including Bob Murphy, Sharon Minemoto, Alan Matheson, and Bill Sample — and developed his skills as a songwriter and producer under the mentorship of multi-platinum songwriter and producer Sean Hosein (Kelly Rowland, 98 Degrees, Jessica Simpson). He has also studied film composition privately with Jim Guttridge of HiTower Music.
As a performer, Georges plays across genres and can be heard regularly with roots rockers The Matinée, afro-funk group Camaro 67, and The Jimmy Baldwin Band. His piano and keyboard influences range from jazz great Bill Evans and country legend Floyd Cramer to organists John Medeski, Victor Axelrod, and Ray Manzarek.
The Production Work
Georges founded Knuckleduster Music Inc. in 2010. Since then he has produced and co-written the "New Day" EP with Juno Award winning artist Elaine "Lil' Bit" Shepherd, produced Portage and Main's "Better Man" which spent 10 weeks in the top 10 on CBC's Radio 3 Chart, and produced albums for Lydia Hol, Terence Jack, and more. He has also engineered on-location recordings for Juno Award winning group Pugs & Crows, Western Canadian Music Award winner Peter Hannan, and C.R. Avery, among others.
As a composer, Georges has contributed music to feature films including Dawn Rider (Christian Slater, Donald Sutherland, Jill Hennessey) and Christmas Miracle, composed the score for the Telus Optik TV documentary series Eastside Stories, and scored the award-winning animated short Asteroid Season. His music has also appeared in CBC's Arctic Air and Showcase's Continuum.
The Teaching
Georges holds a Provincial Instructor Diploma from Vancouver Community College, where he is a faculty member teaching courses in recording, production, electronic music, and online media.
In 2020, with live venues closed during the pandemic and his performing schedule on hold, Georges launched the Knuckleduster Music YouTube channel — originally to help musicians get better sounding live streams from their home studios. What started as a handful of practical videos grew into a full Logic Pro tutorial library and a community of over 10,000 musicians learning alongside him every week.
The Knuckleduster Music approach has always been the same: calm, step by step, no jargon, no skipped steps. The goal isn't to turn musicians into engineers — it's to make Logic Pro feel like a tool they own, not one that owns them.

As a vocalist, I really appreciate working with Georges. He knows how to get the best out of me by encouraging my vocal abilities, and by guiding me in making sure all the vocal parts come together in perfect harmony. His production and final mixes always sound incredible, and are at top industry standards.
